Primary Contract Packaging

Primary packaging requires the highest consideration of quality, consistency and documentation. Alcan Packaging employs several dedicated suites of varying capabilities to meet your needs. For efficiency increases, primary streamlined into secondary packaging is also possible, thus reducing documentation complexity. Some examples are:

  • High-speed solid-oral dose bottle filling
  • High-speed solid-oral dose blister packaging (Form-Fill-Seal)
  • Liquid/Semi-solid unit-dose and repeat-use tube filling
  • Primary component pouching
  • Small to medium size run versatility (pre-commercial packaging)

Secondary Contract Packaging

With the growing complexity of primary packaging formats, Alcan Packaging's goal has been to increase our versatility. Various cartoners, card sealing technologies/lines, pouching lines and kit assembly processes are available to meet virtually any need. Alcan Packaging has strategically invested in Compliance Packaging processes to support our ComplySolutions® brand of solutions. Some examples are:

Compliance Packaging

Poor patient adherence to medication therapy has long been an epidemic in healthcare systems worldwide. It is estimated that non-compliance results in over $177 billion in unnecessary medical costs and lost revenues in the US alone. While many solutions exist to improve patient adherence, innovative packaging remains as one of the simplest. The Ohio State University recently completed a study showing innovative packaging can improve patient adherence by 15%. For this reason, Alcan Packaging has developed a portfolio of solutions, called ComplySolutions®, whose goal is to improve the mkedication experience and ultimately improve health outcomes.
