We are committed to excellence in relation to the environment, health and safety through the continued improvement of our knowledge, understanding and performance. All of our sites operate according to ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 as well as our own EHS FIRST standards.
Our internal Environment, Health & Safety program is managed by a network of EHS professionals in each plant around the world working to implement safety procedures and protocols, promote health and wellness of our employees and the communities in which we operate, and to manage the environmental impact of our operations. However, our EHS program is not just a corporate initiative; it is a way of life for every employee in our organization. Through a personal commitment to safety by all employees, we have entrenched a culture that makes EHS our first thought, one which guides all of our activities.
We ensure that our EHS FIRST lessons learned are shared with colleagues around the world to ensure that incidents are not repeated. By sharing our knowledge among all our facilities, we have achieved significant results in our recordables case rate and likewise improvements in our lost time incidents. We achieved a 41% reduction in recordable case and a 34% reduction in lost time injuries over 2006. Testimony to the personal commitment of all our employees can be seen by the fact that in 2007, over 10 of our plants have achieved one year or more without a recordable incident and 32 plants had at least one year without a lost-time accident.
In support of health and wellness of our employees and our communities, our facilities also offer a number of programs designed to help them make healthy lifestyle improvements. Some of these include: smoking cessation and weight loss programs, information sessions on early signs of heart disease and stress management as well as wellness reimbursement programs.
